The University of the Witwatersrand’s School of Mining Engineering and Sandvik Mining are hosting a two-day conference from 21-22 May focusing on the latest technologies and best practice applied to the mining industry.
The conference will be opened officially by Simon Andrews, vice president, sales and marketing, Southern Africa, Sandvik Mining. George Filen, MD and country manager, Africa, Sandvik, will talk about community responsibility and BBBEE status.
Maseve, Chelopech
Highlights of the conference include a presentation on the optimisation of mechanised decline development at Maseve, to be delivered by Mike Andrews, business line manager, Automation and trans4mine.
Andrews will deliver another presentation on trans4mine’s approach to productivity improvements at the Chelopech underground copper mine in Bulgaria.
